Wedding Season is there and you need a fabulous dress

Wedding season fabulous dresses are two things that go hand-in-hand. And to help you decide which outfit to wear as a perfect guest, we prepared a list of what you should and shouldn’t wear. You know, even though Nicole Richie’s look at her sister’s wedding in the south of France got a lot of compliments, our opinion is different. You’ll see why below.

Consider that you are reading a European magazine. This means that the wedding we have in mind takes place during the day, in a church and the groom wears a morning suit, not a black tie. Like the wedding of Kate Middleton, Princess of Wales ou Meghan Markle.

So, follow our inspiration board and you will look gorgeous and perfect as a guest at a Royal wedding.

Let’s start with the wedding season DOs

Do Wear Florals

Because most weddings happen now in Spring, you can never go wrong with floral dresses. Whether with tiny romantic flowers or bold ones with joyful colours, floral dresses and spring are the perfect marriage. You can also play with floral accessories, like the pretty choker by Blumarine or the beaded tiara by Simone Rocha.

Do Happy Colours

Monochromatic or block-colour dresses are also great for the festive occasion. Spring 2023 colour trend offers from pastel to red and green. Do you know which colour is better for your skin tone? Check it out here.

Do Wear Polka Dot

Kate Middleton, Princess of Wales is living proof that the polka dot dress is an ever-chic classic. She has worn this model on several occasions, such as at the memorial service for Prince Philip in March 2022. Another Royal spotted wearing a polka dot was Abigail Spencer at Meghan Markle’s wedding. Elevate the look with a big hat and powerful jewellery.

Do Wear a Headband or Fascinator

Head accessories add unique glamour to wedding outfits. Decorate your head with flowers, a hat with flowers, a brooch or bows. They bring joy to your look. If you go to decorate your hat with some extra accessories like a flower, remember that the decoration goes on the right side of the hat. Otherwise, for a more modern look, wear an ultra-chic turban. And by the way, did you know that there is a “hat etiquette” that says that the mother of the groom should never wear a bigger hat than the mother of the bride’s headpiece?

Do Not Wear White

Although this seems quite obvious, you wouldn’t believe how many women choose white outfits. Don’t do that! The only woman wearing white at a wedding should be the bride. That’s a terrible faux pas, and people might think you are competing with the bride on her special day. But there are plenty of other light hues like off-white or pastels that are stylish and perfect for a spring wedding.

Do Not Wear Black

All-black outfits are elegant but not really appropriate for a wedding as it is a happy occasion, not a funeral. You can always go for a black and white dress; this colour combination is utterly chic. Midnight blue and Navy are the darkest colours that are acceptable.

Do Not Wear “Look at Me” Clothes

Really tight and overly sexy outfits are a no-go. You don’t want to look vulgar or desperate for the photographer’s flashes. Unless your secret dream is to have your own reality show, marry a rapper and give your kids strange names. Your outfit should be sexy but in a classy way.

Last But Not Least

Wedding Season usually means you’re attending a religious ceremony. So, dress accordingly. If you’re wearing a sleeveless dress, it is “de bon-ton” to cover your shoulders with a beautiful shawl. The accessory will, by the way, give an extra touch to your outfit. If you’re wearing a floral dress or a dress with bold patterns, go for a one-colour shawl and vice-versa.
