The style

Johanna Ortiz designs ultra-feminine dresses. Her romantic creations are loved not only by her Colombian friends but also by women around Europe and America. As a result, among her clients are Hollywood stars and celebrities such as Michelle Obama, Lady Gaga, Alexa Chung, Beyoncé.

Ortiz’s style is definitely very sexy and flirty. She designs dresses for women of all ages who want to accentuate their femininity and want to feel free to have fun when wearing her clothes.

The inspiration

Her inspiration is quite eclectic. In fact, it goes from Latin women and South American rancho style to American Georgia O’Keeffe and her landscape paintings of the New Mexico desert. Additionally, women from the ’50s, French women and nature, of course. The result of this big mix of influences is exuberant garments. For example, dresses with bold, colourful prints and plenty of ruffles and big volumes.

The collection

For this H&M and Johanna Ortiz collab collection, the designer says she started with the colour palette. Then, she went through all her favourite designs from previous collections to chose something for everyone.

The collaboration of the giant high-street label H&M and Johanna Ortiz makes her luxurious creations more affordable hence accessible to many. Ortiz says she wants her designs to be part of everyday wardrobe. In other words, dresses that you can wear with ballerinas and no makeup during the day. But also that you can “style with large earrings or other accessories to plunge into the nightlife.”

As we learned from the previous H&M collaborations with luxury designers such as Giambattista Valli, these collab collections sell out in seconds. So get your fingers ready to hit the keyboard like mad on the 12th March!
