Workwear inspiration from Copenhagen Fashion Week  Effortless chic and oh-so-cool!

Copenhagen Fashion Week A/W2020 is our favourite workwear inspiration because of the minimalist and sophisticated style of the Scandinavian girls. But what’s so special about them? Well, Danish girls are pros at mixing high street and luxury, feminine and masculine, chic and relaxed, putting together looks that are excellent inspiration for our office hours.

The Danish fashion influencer Jeanette Friis Madsen has good advice for those who want to rock the laid back and comfortable Scandinavian style: “Always think of the four Cs: comfortable, classic, casual and cool. Add something feminine, and you’re good to go!”

So, inspired by CPFW, we handpicked some fantastic workwear inspiration from Scandinavian labels like Ganni, Arket and Gestuz.

Oversised Blazer

Scandinavian girls know the value of a good blazer, this is why they go for long-lasting good-quality garments that they wear for many years. Oversised blazers give you the relaxed elegance and comfiness of the fashionable women outside Copenhagen Fashion Week. Furthermore, these masculine jackets are chic and seasonless; you can wear them to the office over a t-shirt in summer, but they are roomy enough to be layered over pullovers in the colder seasons too. This blazer by Arket has the perfect cut; it is oversized and boxy and looks as beautiful with heels as with sneakers.

Leather Shirt

@sgundelach

To master the perfect mixing of masculine and feminine, try wearing buttoned-up shirts. Ganni’s black leather shirt has puffy shoulders that bring femininity to the outfit. This piece is a joker to have in your wardrobe;  not only it looks contemporary, but also transitions perfectly from winter to spring. Pairing this shirt with white jeans is an unexpected combination that we like.

Black and Beige

@pernilleteisbaek

Be minimalist and in a way, classic. The combination of beige and black is winner workwear inspiration. You can’t go wrong with this colour combo; it is atemporal and elegant. A beige trenchcoat is as timeless as it gets. Ganni has a modern take on the coat with an exaggerated contrast lapel that gives the classic staple a contemporary mood. Pair it with black denim and pullover et voilà, you’re ready to go to work.

Dress and Knee-High Boots

@group88_danmark

Comfort is vital in the office; this is why pairing a dress with knee-high boots is a good choice. Plus, this combination allows you to wear breezy dresses even when the weather is a bit uncertain, as the boots will keep your legs and feet warm and dry. If you work in a bank or as a lawyer, Ganni’s voluminous dress is a modern manner to replace the pencil-skirt-with-blazer look.

Dress over pants

If you are a creative person, there’s nothing more Copenhagen Fashion Week than wearing a dress over pants. This combination makes excellent workwear; comfortable, relaxed and chic. But if you are more classic, wear the dress with thick tights and boots or sneakers. Gestuz’s leather shirt dress with a big belt has a modern silhouette that we’ll see a lot in 2020, and we especially like the combination of the classic colours; tan and black.

Oversized Coat and Sneakers

@Blancamiro

The Nordic trendsetters like the contrast of an elegant coat mixed with sporty elements such as crisp white sneakers. Mixing high and low makes the look more relaxed and effortless, not to mention that wearing sneakers is super comfortable for long days at the office. Do not be afraid of investing in a good quality coat; it is a staple that you will wear over and over again. Ganni’s creative director says that this oversized double-breasted coat plays with the idea of borrowing your dad’s clothes.

Jacquard Sweater and Jeans

@Columbinesmile

Cosy Jacquard sweaters are a thing this winter. Pair them with jeans for a cool office outfit. If you think the look is too relaxed for your office, dress up the look with heels and a statement gold chain. You can keep wearing this Ganni sweater throughout spring because of its elbow-length puffy sleeves and short hem. This sweater with high-waisted jeans is, probably, our prefered workwear inspiration!

By the way, Scandinavians are not famous only because of their fashion labels and street style we see during Copenhagen Fashion Week, their cool lifestyle is so unique it even has a name, Lagom, which is Swedish for “just enough”. If you want to to know more about the philosophy behind the Scandinavian way of life, watch our video Lagom is a lifestyle.
